We saw them coming from every direction.  There were kids everywhere.  Today we had a great beginning to our Bible school.  We have a very dedicated faculty and we have a great opportunity to touch the lives of these kids as well as their families.

Vacation Bible School has been a tool that has been used in the lives of countless numbers of people.  Year after year it is the leading tool in seeing people come to faith in Christ.  Many of you reading this post heard the gospel as a child at VBS.  The statistics tell us that it is extremely effective at reaching people with the message of the gospel.

Because it has been around so long, we tend to take the impact of VBS for granted.  We live in a society where compared to years ago, these kids have much less access to the truth of scripture.  We now live in a culture that is Biblically illiterate.

This fact increases the importance of VBS.  Many of these kids will hear the gospel for the first time.  They will go home and tell their parents what they have learned.  Perhaps some of these parents will be reminded of their responsibility to teach their children spiritual principles.  It may cause them to look for a Bible believing church.

As we pray, it is important for us to be aware of these possibilities.  We should also be looking for opportunities to use what is happening in our VBS as a part of our task to share the gospel.  All of the studies tell us that we are becoming more secular with each passing day.  We must not assume that people have heard or know the truth.  All of this makes our witnessing opportunities even more important.
