Leadership Banquet

Last night hundreds of those involved in Bible Fellowship ministry gathered together for our appreciation banquet.  It was a great crowd and as I walked among the many people there, I was reminded of how much of a difference this group of people makes in the lives of countless numbers of people.

Our guest speaker was Jonathan Falwell, the pastor of the Thomas Road Baptist Church.  Jonathan took over as pastor after his father went to be with the Lord, just over two years ago.  What has happened in that church has been incredible.  Jonathan has given it tremendous vision and leadership.  The church is in the midst of some of the best days in its history.

He gave a great message to our people and challenged us to look to the future because so much is at stake.  We are to be dependent on the Lord and realize that God has given us the opportunity to make a difference for the kingdom.

When He was telling the story about taking over the church, he made a great statement.  He said, “When I was at the end of who I was, I began to know who He is.”  That is a powerful word that many of us can and should apply in numerous situations in our lives.  The truth is that the best thing that can happen to us is to get to the end of who we are as quickly as possible, so we can better know who He is.
