Tonight is our annual SCA auction for the benefit of our school.  We have several hundred items that are available in the silent auction, as well as the live auction.  It is a cause that is well worth supporting, it is a time of great fellowship and there are some wonderful items to be had.

This is more than just a fund raiser for the school.  We need to remember what our school is all about.  Its purpose is Christian education, making a difference in the lives of kids, so they can make a difference in our culture.  Our desire is to do the best job we can in every area and the school has been a great blessing to our church, as well as this area of the upstate.  There will be many people who will be coming tonight interested in bidding on a lot of different items that they want.

Over the years my practice has always been to purchase something that I really don’t need and sometimes borders on the ridiculous.  I do that as a reminder to myself that what this is about is not what I want, but the cause I am supporting.  You see, I believe that when I help ministries such as this one, I am making a contribution to the kingdom of God. …and that is what we are to be all about.  We should never lose sight of the fact that every moment that we have, every resource we possess, and every talent God has given to us, we should use it to glorify Him in some way.  One of the things that is good about difficult financial times is that it reminds us about what is truly valuable and it gives us the opportunity to make a significant impact with what God has given to us.
