The Importance of Investment
This past Sunday, we talked about the importance of investment. We looked at the life of David and saw where building the house of the Lord became a priority for him and his supreme legacy as king. There are three things that are very clear that comes out of this passage.
- It all belongs to God
- It is all comes from God
- It is all given by God
There has probably never been a time in our lives when it is more important to understand those truths. In the time of great financial pressure, it is more important than ever to know and to practice the fact that we are not owners, we are stewards of what God has given to use. We cannot expect things to go well for us financially, or in any other area of our life, when we choose to ignore His teachings in this area. The resources that God has given us provide for us the opportunity to do as He says in Hebrews 10:24, that is, we get the opportunity to “stimulate one another to love and good deeds.” In that phrase we find the ability to make a lasting difference using the time, talent and resources that God has given to us. The tendency in our culture today is to talk about what someone else is going to do, when in reality what we need to do is take our own responsibility before God more seriously. Such obedience is filled with excitement and opportunity. It is living in such a way that we live on the side of faith, not fear and that makes all the difference.
