We Are Paved
When I came here 24 years ago we talked about the fact that we wanted to have the property all the way to the corner. This was before we had built any buildings or made any real plans. Today that part of the dream has been completed. They have just finished paving the corner property. It was a long process. It took far longer than I had anticipated. We had to purchase about 9 different pieces of property, get rid of eight houses and the filling station. But today the view from the street is better than it has ever been.
This is another testimony of the faithfulness, commitment, hard work, and giving of so many people in the life of our church. It is a reminder of the fact that God continues to put opportunities before us. As soon as Jimmy Fender emailed me that the paving was complete, I had to go and see it for myself. It may not mean a lot to some people in our fellowship, but I assure you this is a significant day and marks another step in our vision to be all what God would have us to be.
In some ways this will make us more effective in doing all the things that we do. A good example is what took place this past weekend in our church. What a wonderful Impact Weekend we had and what a great day we experienced on Sunday. Our prayer must constantly be that everything that we do physically, organizationally, promotionally, spiritually, and financially must all come together to give glory to Him.
A lot of people will say that it is only a parking lot. But I assure you, it is so much more than that in the history of this church. To God be the glory!
