An Evening of Encouragement

Last night I had a thrilling visit. I went to the home of a family that has veen visiting our church.  From the beginning it became obvious they are looking for a deeper and closer walk with the Lord and they are willing to make the changes and take the steps to see that this occurs. They have been visiting for a number of weeks and they are already involved in a Bible Fellowship class. They have been faithful in worship and they gave me specific examples of what they had heard one of our fine Bible Fellowship teachers say. They remembered with great clarity various things they had heard in worship. They expressed a clear intention to get their whole family involved and make the Lord a real priority in their home. They talked to me about how they are trying to establish a quiet time and begin to grow in the Lord. They were impressed with so many different aspects of the church.

I just sat there and soaked it in and thought about all the efforts that had been made by a number of different people in our church to touch the life of this family.  It was so exciting to see their hunger, to see their openness, and to see their response to a place where people love the Lord.  It was thrilling to be a part of it and I have no doubt that I received much more from the visit than they did. It was just another reminder of the fact that when we are serious about communication, the importance of the gospel and a walk with God, it makes a tremendous difference.
