A Lot of Good News
A few days ago I heard a reporter on one of the networks say at the beginning of the newscast “there is more bad news.” It seems as though when we watch the news, that is all we get. There is something bad happening every day. I am sure this has a tremendous impact on our country. It changes our entire attitude.
As believers, we live in the midst of a culture that is in rebellion against God, and yet we must be always on the lookout for good news. This past week I have received a lot of good reports concerning what has happened in our efforts over the last month. I have heard testimonies of how people have been saved, of how families have been changed, and how these efforts have helped various people take the next step in their Christian walk. God is at work in the lives of a lot of people and it is always more obvious to us in the midst of difficulty. But we must be paying attention. We can become so consumed by all the bad news that we refuse to be aware of what God is doing, even when it is right there in front of us.
With that being the situation, our response needs to be twofold:
- We need to spend some time looking for the good news of what God is doing in the lives of people through Jesus Christ.
- We need to make sure that we are a part of that good news. That is, we are looking for opportunities to share our faith, to touch the lives of others, and to live out the principles of God’s word. That means that many of us, in fact all of us, need to have some real change in our lives. And that is more than a political term.
This Sunday we are going to talk about that process because there are great days to come when real change takes place in our lives.
