Recently I came across some facts concerning the Super Bowl that I thought you might find interesting.
- Over 1 billion people will watch the Super Bowl
- There will be 100,000 visitors to Tampa
- The game will be broadcast in over 230 countries and some 35 languages
- It will mean 3 to 4 million dollars to the Tampa economy
In terms of media
- One 30-second commercial spot will cost $2.6 million
- 1.5 million television sets will be sold in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl
- The Super Bowl in the largest home party event of the year
- It is the second largest food-consuming event after Thanksgiving.
During Super Bowl week, people will spend the following
- Tortilla chips – $10.2 million
- Light beer – $9.2 million
- Regular beer – $8.7 million
- Potato Chips – $7.8 million
- Frozen pizza $7.3 million
- Other beverages - $5.5 million
- Soft drinks – $7.7 million
- Mexican salsa – $5.3 million
- Ice cream – $4.7 million
The Super Bowl is a big deal in every way…but at the end of the day, it is only a game.
