The Roe v. Wade Anniversary

Yesterday marked the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court case that legalized abortion.  There are very few, if any, Supreme Court decisions that have had a greater impact on our country.         The result of this decision has been the loss of tens of millions of human lives.  This has been a plague upon our land.

If we as a nation take the view that we have a choice about life, it impacts our perspective on every other part of our country.  How can you be concerned about the poor, if you are not concerned about the unborn?  How can you say that you are serious about justice when you allow the taking of innocent lives? How can you talk about fair tax policy and government regulation when you follow the principle that choice is king? How can we pray for God’s blessing on our land when we so flippantly deal with the concept of life which He has created?

Roe v. Wade has had an impact on every part of our culture. It is our responsibility to stand clearly for the principle of life. We must do it with clarity, commitment, and the right spirit. Right now we are consumed with the problems of our economy and the challenges abroad.  We should not forget that how we value human life is at the base of every decision that we make as a culture.  We can and should, with great confidence and excitement, seek to influence the view that many have on this most important issue.

And it starts in our lives with the position that we take as individuals.
