There’s Always Another Offer
This morning I was getting my car serviced. While I was sitting there waiting, a salesman walked in and asked to speak to the manager. They stood there in the lobby and I couldn’t help but hear what they were saying. He introduced himself and talked to him about a new product that he wanted him to try. As they talked about the product, there were several things that caught my attention. Here are some of the things he said.
- We can save you some money. In this day and time everyone wants to hear that. We want to make it easier on ourselves.
- It will do a better job and last longer.
- It’s easy to use.
- I’ll just let you try it for a couple of weeks.
As I listened to the conversation, I thought to myself how much that is like life. With a world that is so oriented towards the secular, we are constantly getting offers that will tell us it will cost less, do a better job, make it easier, and encourage us to give it a try. You and I have seen a number of people who have said yes to offers like that in life and have found it to be disastrous.
In Luke 12, the Lord says that we are to be like men waiting for the knock of the Lord at our door. There are a lot of things that would seek to gain our attention, but we must stay focused on what the Lord would have us to do. There are many things that you can discuss and will discuss with the people around you, but our “Get in the Game” emphasis is one that reminds us that we have nothing more important to share than the Good News. When you invest in the lives of people, when you show them you care, they are open to that invitation. I had an opportunity to have a great conversation with someone today. I hope you had that same type of opportunity also.
