The First Sunday of the New Year

Sunday is going to be a very exciting and different type of worship experience as we begin the new year. On that day we are planning to be together for one great worship service at 10:30. It will be unlike any service that we have had before. We look to the future with great excitement and it is important that we start strong.  We have some exciting things planned and you certainly do not want to miss this opportunity. I believe it is a time of opportunity for us but also a time of great responsibility. The title of my message Sunday will be “Get in the Game.”  This is a not a time for those of us who are serious about our walk with the Lord to be on the sidelines in any capacity.  We must live with a sense of anticipation, courage, and passion for what God wants to do with us.  We will be using visual effects that are unlike anything you have seen before.   Each of us will be encouraged and challenged to join in an effort that is overwhelming in size and extremely powerful in terms of impact on the lives of people.

The new year is a time for making new and fresh commitments. People are going to make decisions about how they live, what they do with their time, what they eat, how they spend, what they do, and the direction they want to take their lives.  Our nature as a people is to follow up on some of them and to let others go by the wayside. When it comes to what God would have us to do, this must be the priority for our life because it impacts every other facet of our lives and relationships. The time is long past when we can say someone ought to do something.  It is a time for action. In the next few days coaches all across the country will be telling their college players that “this is the game of your life.” The reality is that most of these games will be forgotten in a short period of time. The game in which we are involved will never be forgotten and will make a difference for all of eternity.  I am excited and very expectant about what God is doing and is going to do in my life and in yours as well. It is important for us to begin the year with a greater sense of priority. Do not miss Sunday morning.  We will be back to our regular schedule on Sunday night.  The entire day is going to be a great day and a very important one as well.
