Yesterday was the 67th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Not only did this event draw us into the war in the pacific, it changed the way that we look at the world.

The tragedy of Pearl Harbor is a constant reminder of how we must be constantly vigilant as a country as well as individuals. We live in a world that is filled with conflicts that could have a significant impact upon the way that we live. We should be concerned about the conflicts in the Middle East, the tension in Pakistan, a number of civil war conflicts around the world and the threat of terrorists. When we see report after report on the news it is easy for us to live with an attitude of uncertainty.

No matter what the circumstance we must remember that our trust is in the Lord. He is the one who is in control of this world and He continues to watch over those who put their trust in Him. We are able to have the opportunities we have today because of the sacrifice of brave people like those at Pearl Harbor so that we could have the freedom that we enjoy. We must always remember that with that freedom comes a responsibility to make decisions based on what is true and right. That does not seem to be the attitude of our present culture. As believers we honor those who have gone before by following the commands of our Lord. As we remember these who have made such a sacrifice, it should cause us to recommit ourselves to standing for what we truly believe and then seek to impact our culture.
