Getting More Touches
September 22nd, 2008
During the football season you will hear commentators talk about the effectiveness of various football teams. They will break down the offense and the defense and spend time talking about key players. You will hear them say “they need to get him more reps” or “they need to get him more touches.” What they are trying to say is key players need to be in the position to make a play. If a kid is a great running back or a great receiver, you have to give him the ball. If he is a great defensive player, you try to put him in the position where he can make the tackle.
As I thought about that over the weekend, I was reminded of the fact that we are in the business of trying to get our people “more touches.” We want you to have more opportunities to share your faith, provide encouragement, and impact the lives of others for Christ. God has given to us so many people with the ability to make a difference. The wonderful thing about the body of Christ is that when we are seeking to honor Him, all of us have the opportunity to be impact players. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us as a church to do all we can to get you “more touches” or ” more reps.” The more we take advantage of those opportunities, the greater chance we have of impacting the kingdom. I pray you’ll take advantage of those opportunities today.
