Election Day
Today is Election Day. We have the opportunity to vote in democratic and republican primaries that serve as the first step in choosing some of our leadership on both the national and local level. We are not going to solve the problem of our culture in our society with political solutions. That has become very apparent. This election cycle is a continual reminder to me of the importance of the ministry of the church. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit of God, the church of Jesus Christ must be the real agent of change, and every believer must be a part of impacting our culture. Today is a reminder to me of the importance of the American system of government, but it is a greater reminder of our responsibility as Christians to impact our culture at every level with the message of Christ. The Bible says that we are to be salt and light. One way that we can do that is to exercise our right to vote.
How you decide to vote can be a complicated process. It involves our beliefs, our desires, in some cases, our knowledge of the candidate, their personality, their record, and even our own past experience. I personally believe that you have to have a set of priorities in choosing how you vote. I have always believed that Christian principles and the Word of God should be a major determining factor concerning who we should support. I hope that you will vote today and as you vote, my prayer is that you will see this not only as a responsibility of a Christian, but an opportunity of a Christian.
