Are You Ready?
I can’t tell you the number of times people have asked me the question “Are you ready?” concerning Andrew’s wedding tomorrow. I don’t think there is any way you can possibly be ready for a major change such as this. Organizationally, there are always things you wish you would have done, details you didn’t take care of, and ideas that you didn’t execute.
But I don’t think anyone is really ready, no matter what their age, to go through a major transition. Ready is not a word that fits there. We use words like grateful, proud, excited, thrilled, happy and great expectations. We are delighted that Andrew has found such a wonderful girl in Jessica and believe, hope and pray that they have a great future in front of them. But since I am going through this for the first time, I can say with great certainty, there is no way to be “ready.”
I say to couples all the time that a wedding has two purposes. First of all, we want to honor the Lord, and secondly, we want to have a good time. Our desire is that both of those things will take place with our family and many friends tomorrow. So many of you have prayed for us, and we are grateful for what you mean to us. I would ask you to pray once again that Andrews and Jessica would be exactly what God would have them to be.
