On Tuesday night I went to see the movie, “Expelled.” This is a documentary file by Ben Stein that reports on the overwhelming prejudice in the scientific community against the ideas of Creation and Intelligent Design. It clearly documents the support given to Darwinism as a fact rather than a theory.

Ben Stein is not a Christian, so he does not come from a spiritual perspective. He sees it as a freedom of speech and inquiry issue. He believes that from the scientific perspective people should be able to pursue knowledge without being pressured or held captive by a prejudiced community.

Through interviews with leading scientists on both sides and some very well known atheists, he shows clearly the almost complete lack of balance in higher education when dealing with this issue.

Our culture has swallowed this completely and if you take a Biblical position, you are considered ignorant and you are ostracized. The film is a great look at the position in which we find ourselves. It clearly shows that while talking about openness, the scientific community is violating its most sacred principles by treating those with another view with prejudice. “Leading scientists” in the film show their true bias with their own words.

I highly recommend the film. It is a great thing for high school students to see. Every parent should be aware of the content so that you know what you student could be facing in the future.
