Battle of the Brains
Last week our Battle of the Brains team from Spartanburg Christian Academy won the competition for the second consecutive year. This is a great accomplishment and is a great honor for our school.
The members of our squad are Tucker Meyers, Adam Painter, Alexis Zwilling, Jade Kelley, Ann Louise Granger, Kristen Kirchner, Danielle Scott and Lee Steele. The Battle of the Brains competition is a test of knowledge in a wide variety of areas. I believe it is a great program because it teaches kids to use the knowledge they have acquired and the importance of a quality education in daily life.
Ed Dickerson (Mr. Ed) is our coach and he has worked these kids hard. That commitment and hard work has paid off. Our entire school is excited about this title.
This is an indication of one of the goals of our school. It is important for them to attain knowledge but it is also important that they learn how to apply it. A good education will cause them to be lifelong learners. These kids are a model for us. They performed under pressure and they showed all of us the value of discipline and study.
There is a word here for us. No matter how old we are or what type of experience we have had, we must continue to grow. I am excited that our kids are getting a great start.
