Stewardship

Last Sunday we gave out copies of Andy Stanley”s book “Fields of Gold”.  It is a very practical book concerning the way we look at the material goods that God has placed in our care.  I hope that you got your copy and that you have started to read it.  If you did not receive your copy last week, you will be able to get one this week.

When we understand the concept of Biblical stewardship, it does not limit us but opens up the world of serving the Lord and putting Him first in everything that we do.

We realize that we are a part of what God is doing when we are faithful with what He has provided.  This is a stumbling block for a great many people.  They become a slave to what they have.  It is not a matter of what you have but how you view what God has given to you.

We are talking about “Managing a Life that Matters”.  The Lord commands us to be good stewards and you cannot know real joy until you can understand and practice what it means to be a steward.

Over the years I have seen so many people win this battle and as a result they took on a completely new view of life.  I have also seen people that while they have resources, they continue to be enslaved and they will never have enough

This is a time for us to once again examine the priorities of our life and make sure we are being obedient.  When we see to serve His kingdom, we have unlimited possibilities.

Our prayer should be that we might be as the scripture says, “rich toward God”.  Anything less only leads to frustration and defeat.  Why not take the road that leads to freedom and the abundant life?
