We Live in Uncertain Times

When I got home tonight, I watched the election returns for a while.  What is happening in our political process is fascinating and scary at the same time.  It is interesting to hear all of the pundits who are supposed to know it all and keep saying they are baffled.  Yes, we live in an uncertain time.  This is true in a number of areas.

These are uncertain times in terms of Politics.  I read recently an estimate that all of the presidential campaigns will spend close to a billion dollars.  That is an incredible statistic.  While we hear more information than ever before, we need to be more discerning than we have ever been.

These are uncertain times in terms of the Economy.  The markets are on a rollercoaster ride.  Depending on who you talk to, we are headed for a recession or dip in the economy.  In times like these, fear becomes a major factor.  In fact, there are those that are doomsday folks and will be disappointed if we don’t  have some tough days.  This is connected to the political process.

These are uncertain times in terms of Foreign Policy.  We can and should be excited about what is happening with the surge in Iraq.  The world is getting smaller all the time.  Things that happen around the world can have an immediate impact on the way we live.

In the midst of all this, believers need to keep the following in mind.

No matter who is elected, we know who is in control.
We serve a God who has all the resources.
No matter what happens in the world, we are the victors because we serve a risen Savior.

We need to do more than just believe these things, we should concentrate on fleshing them out in our daily lives.
