Having Mike Huckabee Sunday has turned out to be a great investment in sharing the gospel.  I have been back over the service a couple of times.  I knew that he would give a clear presentation of the gospel.  The primary reason for having him was to take advantage of an opportunity to share the gospel with people that we may not have the chance to touch any other way.

On Sunday morning we had hundreds of people that have never been in our church.  No matter what their reason for coming, they heard a clear message.  People have shared with me a number of stories about people they know that were here who are not Christians and have no part in any church.

We gave out over 60 DVD’s of the service to the media that day and others have picked it up off our website.  The story was on the front page of newspapers across the country.  It was a major story on networks, news outlets, and websites.

Last night POTUS08 an XM radio station that deals with the election played the entire message.  I have heard numerous quotes that communicated elements of the gospel.  Here are a couple of examples.

From the Charlotte Observer, “In his sermon Huckabee told the congregation that if he gets to heaven, it won’t be because he was good but because at the cross, (Jesus) did something for me.”

From the Herald Journal, “Eternal life is not the result of something we did for God.  Eternal life is the result of something God has done for us.”

You almost never see comments like these in the secular media

I have had additional contacts from media outlets and it is giving me the chance to help define an evangelical and to make the point that Jesus is the center of the life of a Christian.

Sunday gave us a chance to put the name of Jesus out there so that people might hear it.  That is what we must be doing!
