The Books You Read

People often ask me for suggestions about books to read.  At this time of year, a good book is a great gift.  Here are a few suggestions.

The Good Life by Chuck Colson.  Chuck Colson has a brilliant mind.  In this great work, he talks about purpose and what it means to have a good life.

Downpour  by James MacDonald.  This is a great book on personal revival.

Quiet Strength  By Tony Dungy.  This is a great read especially if you are into sports.  He has a tremendous walk with the Lord and is not ashamed to say so. Everyone that have ever heard him speak knows where his priorities are.

The Great Upheaval by Jay Winik.  This is a narrative history of 1788-1800.  You might think that history is boring, but he makes it come alive.  He wrote another great narrative history entitled, April, 1865.   It is also well worth reading.

The Little Red Book of Wisdom by Mark DeMoss.  This is a very practical little book.  It is a simple read and has some great practical suggestions for life.

The Knowledge of the Holy by A. W. Tozer.  This is a classic little book on the nature of God.  It is a great little book on the discipline of the Christian life.

Directed Verdict by Randy Singer.  Randy Singer is a great writer of legal thrillers.  I recommend all of them.  Randy has spoken for us and is a great Christian leader.  If you like mystery and suspense, this is a great choice.

The World is Flat
by Thomas Friedman.  This is a best seller that gives you a fascinating picture of the world in which we live.  It is a great read.

These are a few that come to mind.  Statistics tell us that we are going in the wrong direction in terms of our reading.  There is a lot of junk that is being written but there is also great stuff that will make you better equipped to live for the Lord.
