SCA Upstate Classic

This week we are hosting our own basketball tournament.  We have invited some of the best basketball programs in the state to be a part of the tournament.  We have the 4A public school state champion, the 3A private school state champion, and we are the reigning 2A state champion.  We have some of the best players in the state playing in our tournament.  You can walk in our gym and see college coaches from North Carolina, Clemson, and other universities that are there scouting players.

This gives our kids a chance to play against top competition.  It is an exciting place to be.  I have been so proud of out team.  Last night they defeated Riverside high school in overtime.  This is a 4A public high school.   We are by far the smallest school in the tournament.  We have always liked playing against the best possible competition.  It helps us to be the best that we can be.

I am so proud of our kids and coaches.  Kevin Padgett and Mark Pangel do a great job with our kids and our team has a real witness.  During the tournament, we have fed the teams and Bill Owens the head of FCA has spoken to the teams about a relationship with Christ.  Not only is it a great tournament, it is a great opportunity to honor the Lord.

The coaches and players enjoy the tournament and are anxious to be a part of it.  The facility is tremendous and the tournament is a first class operation under the direction of our athletic staff working with our athletic director, Chris Arp.  It is a great witness and a fun event for our entire school.

The tournament concludes on Wednesday with games beginning at 1:00.
