Leadership Is So Important
Tonight, the leadership of our church will be meeting to make their commitments to “Telling the Story…Touching the Future.” The writer, John Maxwell, says that “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” That is so very true.
We have been blessed with a great core of lay leaders. These are people that are always ready to do whatever it takes whether it is the use of time, talent or resources. I know that they will provide a great example for the rest of us to follow.
This has never been about what someone else should do. It is about what God wants to do in each of our lives. There are many ways that this can be accomplished but it all comes back to what we are willing to do in terms of our own lives.
It is not about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice. Not everyone can or should give the same thing. It is about each of us finding the will of God in our lives for this opportunity that the Lord has laid before us.
We have a great history of people always being willing to take a step of faith. Over the years, our church has been known for that type of vision. It is my prayer that we will rise to the challenge.
We have been talking about vision, prayer, faith and sacrifice. “Telling the Story… Touching the Future” gives to us the opportunity to take a major step in our lives spiritually. We are learning about our priorities. The scripture says, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”. This will show each of us where our heart lies.
The question for you and me is not, what should everyone else do, but what does the Lord want me to do? Please join me in praying that God will give us clear direction in the days ahead.
