The Edwards Property
Yesterday was an historic day in the life of our church. When we officially approved the purchase of the corner at 176 and Springfield Road, the church reacted with a standing ovation. There was a tremendous spirit of excitement.
Many of our people have been praying about this opportunity for many years. Catherine Edwards was a faithful part of our fellowship and I know it was her desire to see the church purchase that property.
This happened rather quickly. Our need for immediate action came to light only last week. I am so grateful for the hard work of our Property Committee. Yesterday we shared the proposal with our deacons and they voted unanimously to support the effort. I am continually grateful for the vision and dedication of the leadership of our church.
This piece of property has been on the minds of the leadership of this church long before I became the pastor here. God gave us a window of opportunity and our people had the faith and vision to take advantage of it.
The clearing of the corner will change completely the look of our church. We will have a visibility that will make an incredible difference in the way that we are seen. I know that this will enhance every single thing that we do.
The purchase of the property will increase the size of our capital fund raising program. I have not had a single person express a concern about that. In fact, most people believe that this is just another reason for us to make an even greater effort and be more in prayer as each of us considers what God would have us to do.
This is a critical time in the life of our church and it will take a greater commitment on a higher level than ever. We did not plan on doing this during the campaign, but God is always on time. We are convinced that this is what the Lord would have us to do and I believe that as we trust Him completely, He will bless our efforts. We believe this is what God wants done.
Let me say it again. Please don’t lose sight of it. “We are seeking to capture an opportunity to expand our ability to tell the story to all generations and to the rest of the world.” We cannot settle for any less.
