A Threat to Our Way of Life

Recently I was reading an article by Bob Reccord.  In it he shared some statistics from the Fox and Friends  program in July.  The numbers are very scary.  They said,

  • 60% of married men step outside the bounds of their marriage for an affair
  • 55% of women do the same
  • 90% of those who have been unfaithful are found not to feel guilty but instead, feel entitled

I am sure that these statistics are from across the country and reflect those that cheat on their mate repeatedly.  Even with that being the case, the prospects are very frightening.

This is a reflection of the attitude that we let other things of this world get ahead of our marriages.  All too often, a job, possessions, friendships and even children get in the way of a healthy marriage.  Once you get your priorities out of order it is a quick ride downhill.

We live in a society that is very complicated and there are so many things that contend for our attention.  Sometimes it is hard to make the right decision.  But no matter how good something might seem, we must remember that there are some things that do not change.

  1. The Lord is to be first above everything else
  2. Our marriage must be our second priority.

Most believers will give lip service to these two truths, but when under pressure of time or desire, will let something else get in front of these two.  We need to check our priorities regularly.  You do not want to be a part of these statistics.  When someone loses the concept of faithfulness to their marriage vows, they lose in every other area as well.
