Summer Is Coming to an End

It seems crazy, but it is true.  We are right around the corner from the start of school.  If you are married to a school teacher as I am, then you start to see all types of indicators that the year is about to begin.  Laura teaches fourth grade at our school, Spartanburg Christian Academy.  She loves to teach but about this time every year, I can see her focus start to change.

She carefully schedules these days so that she can get things done before the start of school.  She starts to go over some of her school books.  She begins to wonder who will be in her class.  She went by the church yesterday to do some work in her room.  Last night she and Allison were cutting out some stuff that will be mounted on a door or board.  It is always a reminder to me that summer is coming to an end and things are going to change.

I think this represents a time of great opportunity for the believer.  I have always believed that despite what the calendar says, for people with kids the year begins with the start of school.  It is a time to get a fresh start.

Our summer program has been fantastic.  We are looking forward to a great time at Cleveland park this Sunday night and then a high attendance day in Bible Fellowship on Sunday, August 19.  I have heard about three separate situations today in which the Bible Fellowship class made a major difference.  There is no doubt about it!  Being a part of a Bible Fellowship class and being active makes a difference in your life and the lives of others.

As we approach the new year, now is a great time to get into a class or invite someone else to be a part of your class.  I know it is a busy time.  Laura’s activity is reminding me of that everyday.  But remember it is also a time filled with great potential.  Let’s  make these final days count.
