I Talked to a Hero Yesterday

Yesterday, I happened to be talking to one of our members who works in our preschool ministry.  I had been told that he would be having a knee replacement in the near future.  This will obviously be a challenge for him physically and this couple will have to make quite an adjustment in terms of their business in the next six months to a year.

I was trying to remember who had shared the news with me when he said, “It must have been LouLyn.  LouLyn works with our preschool ministry.  He then went on to tell me that they worked with three year olds and because of this surgery and the recovery time connected with it, they were going to have to move down to the bed babies for a while.  I did not say anything, but I was stunned by the depth of commitment.

Most  people I see would have taken a year off or given up the ministry completely.  And in this case, people would certainly understand.  It was obvious to me that this was not a consideration for this couple.  Their ministry is a priority, and they refuse to let their ministry with little children be interrupted.  They are not people who push to the front of the line, but they are heroes to me.

I was both encouraged and challenged by that conversation.  We are fortunate to have so many like this couple who serve so faithfully.  As we enter a new Bible Fellowship year, there is great opportunity to make a difference.  We have so many that have accepted the challenge of leadership in this very important ministry.  I am so grateful for all of those that make this ministry a priority.  These leaders are making a contribution to the entire church family.

As we begin a new Bible Fellowship year, I hope you will make it a priority to be in your place in Bible Study.
