Graduation
This week students are graduating from high school. This is a wonderful time in the life of a student and their family. This is an accomplishment and certainly marks a turning point in a young person’s life. It represents hard work on the part of the student and commitment of the parents. In many cases the level of work on the part of the student and the level of commitment on the part of the parent varies.
At this point there are some decisions to be made. Many people think it is about a job or where they are going to go to school. These are certainly important but they are not the only decisions to be made. The truth is, that no matter what stage of life we are in, there are questions that continually need to be answered.
- What are my priorities?
- Am I seeking to use the life that God has given to me?
- Does my life reflect what I say I believe? There are many that give only lip service to their faith.
- What is my next step?
Whether you are 18 or 80, you are still facing these questions and they are still important. As we seek to serve the Lord, we need to be asking, “What is the next step for me?”. Once we have determined the answer, we must make the decision to be obedient and intentional in the living of our lives.
That is so simple, but in the all of the pressure of life, many of us are missing it. Yes, graduation is important for our seniors but it should also be a reminder to each of us that God is not finished with us yet. We must make the best of the day that God has given to us.
