Hundreds of people in the life of our church have been using the devotional guide, “Telling the Story with our Resources.”  This 40-day devotional guide has been a great tool to help us understand the importance of Biblical stewardship.  In a day of rampant greed and materialism, it is important for us to remember that all we have belongs to Him and our desire should be to bring honor to God with what we have.

Today is Day 40.  The topic is how God shows you other giving opportunities worthy of your support.  This has been a great experience and a number of people have shared with me how it has made a difference.  If you are one of those that have been particularly moved and helped in this way, we would like to hear about it.  We would never share it without your permission, but your experience could be a great encouragement to others.  I found that certain days were especially meaningful to me.

Today’s topic made me think of our auction for our school tomorrow.  This is a wonderful event that does a lot of good besides raise money.

1. It gives a lot of people a way to serve in many creative ways.
2. It brings together those that are a part of our church and school family.  It is a clear indication how they work together and that is the exception rather than the rule.
3. It is a great time of fun and fellowship
4. Since we have almost 600 items for auction, it gets the ministry of the school into the community.
5. It gives us a chance to show the world that we are serious about our ministry and we can have fun doing it at the same time
6. It raises money for important projects.  This year we are seeking to raise $100,000 for a new bus to be used by our church and school.
7. It encourages the attitude that it is not important what you get.  You are participating in order to give to a significant need.
8. It is a way that a lot of people can give time, talents, and resources to an event that honors the work of the Lord with our students.

It does make a difference how we handle the resources that God gives to us.  I want to be a good steward.
