Playing for Keeps

Like a lot of you I have been watching some football the last couple of days.  I think I liked it better when they crammed all the games into just a few days and you had to decide which one you really wanted to watch.  I feel like stretching out the bowl season takes away some of the excitement of it.

I am sure that most of the players that are playing in these games would say that playing in a bowl is an opportunity of a lifetime and in terms of sports it is.  Everyone enjoys the games and everyone likes to win but at the end of the day, it is still only a game.  It does not compare with that which is really important in the lives of people.

Sunday night we heard a report about our work in China.  We have been working there for a number of years and we are starting to see some tremendous results.  What is happening there will have an impact for all of eternity.  On the same night we prayed for two of our college students that are going to spend a month in India working with the people we have adopted there.  I believe the result of their work is going to be tremendous.

Here at home we are beginning a year of opportunity.  What we do for the kingdom is forever!  It is more than a game and the results will have an impact on eternity.  In our case, none of us have the luxury of staying in the stands.  The Lord expects us to be salt and light.  Ask the Lord to give you the opportunity to make a difference.
