A Great Time with Our Deacons

Last night we had a drop-in for our deacons and their wives at our house.  This is always one of the highlights of the Christmas season for us.  Laura does a great job making sure that it happens and I show up and have a good time.  It is so much fun for me to see our deacons and their wives during this time of fellowship.  We are blessed with a great bunch of leaders in the life of our church.  It is easy for us to take that for granted.

I do realize how fortunate we are to have such a capable group of spiritual leaders in the life of our church.  Whenever I am with them, I am reminded of the great blessing of unity that we have in the life of our fellowship.  I shared with them once again two of the keys to this unity.  One is the willingness of our people to do whatever it takes and a second is the unity and example of our deacons and their wives.

This morning, we are going to Atlanta to spend the day with my family.  We will have dinner with my extended family and then we will return this evening.  We will probably hit a mall on the way.  This is a panic time for me.  Several weeks ago, I knew exactly what I needed to do in the way of gifts, but as usual the time seemed to get away from me.  A couple of days before Christmas, I go into a panic mode because I begin to remember all that I had planned to do and have not yet accomplished.  I am sure I am not the only one in that predicament.

I am so excited about Sunday.  We are going to have a great service on Sunday morning and our two Candlelight services at 5:30 and 11:15 are always a highlight.  We see people at these services that we do not see any other time.  Not only is it a great time for family, it is a wonderful chance to share the message of Christmas.  You probably know some people that are looking for something special on Christmas Eve.  Invite a friend, neighbor, or family member to join us.

I am sure looking forward to being with you on Sunday.  In case I do not get to tell you in person. “Have a wonderful Christ-filled Christmas!”
