A few days ago I read a study that said Americans are feeling more and more lonely. It seems that we are getting a greater sense of isolation and a lack of meaningful relationships. What is the message for us as believers?
We should recognize our need for real relationships. God did not design us to live in isolation. For our own well-being we need to be working at building relationships that serve to give our life greater purpose and direction.
We should be reaching out to others. We are surrounded by those that are lonely and need the touch that can only come through the Lord. Because of our love for Christ we should have a greater concern for the well being of those around us. We have what they are searching for in life. A relationship with Jesus is only thing that will give them real security.
Our ministry provides us with the tools to touch others. People are constantly saying how caring and friendly our fellowship is. Our summer program, CSI, is designed to remind us of the importance of using the tool of Bible Fellowship to meet the needs of others. While drawing them closer to the Lord, it helps them build strong friendships that are more powerful than what the world has to offer. We have a tendency to think that this is available to people everywhere. That is not the case. We should be using the tools that the Lord has provided. Building Christian relationships is the cure to the loneliness that people are feeling today.
