Adoption

The main article on the front page of the Herald Journal yesterday was about Bill and Pam Owens.  The article was about their adoption of a Guatemalan baby they named Zackary.  Bill, Pam, and their daughter, Rebecca have been praying about adoption for several years.
Last year Bill took the job as head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes here in Spartanburg.  The Owens are active members of our church.  He is doing a tremendous with that ministry.  Before taking that position, he had coached Broome High School to a state championship in football.

This is truly a move of God.  They would have never known about this precious little guy if Bill and Pam had not followed the leadership of the Lord taking on this ministry.  I know that God honored their faithfulness.

I had the opportunity to meet the birth mother and some of her family when they visited our church.  This young lady unselfishly and courageously did what was best for her baby.  They wanted to see where the Owens went to church.

I want to ask you to do a couple of things.  Please remember to pray for Zackary as he recovers from his surgery.  He will probably have additional surgery in the fall.

I would also like to remind you that we have had the opportunity to be a part of this whole incident.  When you are a part of a family of faith, the Lord gives us the opportunity to be a part of many wonderful experiences.  It is part of walking with the Lord.  You never know how He is going to work.  His desire is that we might be looking for those opportunities.
