The Practice of Prayer
Today, is the National Day of Prayer. I will be talking about that during Marketshare today at noon. Please pray that God will use this time.
As we think about our nation and about the power of prayer, what are some of the marks of a prayer warrior
A person of prayer realizes it is about God. Our main purpose should always be that we might see God glorified. We as a nation can only be great if we realize that we live “under God.”
A person of prayer makes it a priority. So often, prayer is last on our list of things to do. There is not anything that we are going to do today that is more important that spending time with God.
A person of prayer has a plan. When something is important, you take the time to plan for it. We should put some thought and effort into our prayer strategy. Our time with Him should be more than just asking Him to help us or give us what we want. The strategy that follows the word “Acts” is a good one.
“A” stands for adoration. We should first praise Him. “C” stands for confession. We are sinners before a holy God. “T” stands for Thanksgiving. We need to live with a sense of gratitude. “S” stands for supplication. We bring our requests to God.
A person of prayer is consistent. We should come to God on a regular basis. Our relationship should be more than calling on Him in times or trouble or asking for what we want.
If we want the Lord to do something in our nation, we must ask Him to begin in us. God, we want you to do something in our lives that we might make a difference for you today.
