Prayer
Tomorrow has been designated as a national day of prayer. We certainly need it as a nation. I think that we have had the tendency as believers to use it as a time to point fingers at what is wrong with our country. There is much that needs to be changed in our country and those changes will take place when the people of God become prayer warriors.
Let me encourage you to spend some time praying for our nation. Your prayers should include:
- A Time of Thanksgiving – We still live in the greatest country in the world. We should be grateful for the fact that we live a land that was founded on Biblical principles
- A Time of Confession - We need a spirit of national repentance. We should acknowledge that we have rebelled against God and take responsibility for our actions. This does not begin in the pagan world, but at the feet of the people who belong to Him. I john 1:9 says “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
- A Time of Prayer for our leaders - The scripture says that we are to pray for those in authority. Whether we like it or not, we are to pray for them. Pray that they will lead us to be once again one nation under God
- A Time of Prayer for the church – Revival begins with the people of God. If God is going to do something in our land, It is going to begin in the house of the Lord.
- A Time of Specific Requests for our country – We should be very specific in our requests. There are so many places where we need to pray specifically. This is also a reminder of places where we need to be personally involved in the solution. We must do more than just talk. It is time for us to stand as believers and lead in this great prayer effort.
