When You’re Flying Along

A couple of days ago I was flying to

Nashville. I was passing the time by reading a book. As I was reading I came upon a section that talked about the dangers of flying versus driving. The statistics were not new to me. I had heard before that over 40,000 people a year die in auto accidents while less than a thousand die in airplane crashes. I accepted that as a restatement of knowledge I already had.

Then the turbulence began! I would not say that it was a very rough ride, but it was enough to make me think about what I had just read. It caused me to read the statistics. It also reminded me of the fact that our lives are in the hands of the Lord.

Perhaps you are facing a situation today that has caused you to be nervous or have great fear. Now it is not a matter of knowledge or statistics, it is a matter of faith. We need to be reminded not just what we know in the way of information, but what we believe. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and love and a sound mind.” (II Timothy 1:6)

I am really looking to Sunday. It is going to be an exciting day as we hear what God has been doing in the lives of people.
